Garden Visit

Well, it's been a bit difficult to keep this blog updated this past month. That doesn't mean South Street WI hasn't been busy.... just this blog writer has had a few problems: holiday, back injury, computer died, bought a new one, printer died, bought a new one, and on and on. But never mind, here are a few of our highlights from the past month.

Our Garden group took advantage of a sunny afternoon and the National Garden Scheme. Nine of our group set out in three cars on Monday April 14th for Copton Ash garden. It was a lovely sunny afternoon with lots of interesting plants to view. We were shown around the garden by the owners Tim and Gillian Ingrams whose special interest is alpines. They open their garden a few weekends a year on the National Garden Scheme, but are  happy to open up for garden groups. Our visit was 2.30 to 4.30. We had tea  and homemade cake after going round the garden. They have a very wide selection of plants and trees with many raised from wild seed. They also have a small alpine nursery.

Remember you can click on a photo to enlarge it for better viewing. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as the garden group enjoyed the day out!

I've also uploaded the PDF version of our May newsletter to our website ( We have a dedicated page for our newsletters there. The PDF version of the newsletter is very similar to the printed copy, distributed at the meetings. But it does have full-colour photos and may have some later information missed in the printed copy. I hope you'll have a look.
